Culms ca. 2 mm in diam., more than 70 cm tall. Rhizome elongate.
Blade ca. 40 cm long, 5 mm wide; ligule chartaceous, truncate, ca. 1 mm long, hairy abaxially.
Spikelets paired, monomorphic, upper pedicellate, lower sessile, ca. 3.5 mm long; rachis articulating; lower spikelet falling off together with joint of rachis. Lower glume subcoriaceous, lanceolate, as long as spikelet, minutely 2-toothed, lower back sericeous, margins inrolled; upper glume 3-nerved, lanceolate, ca. 3.2 mm long, margins inrolled and fimbriate, ciliate abaxially; lower lemma chartaceous, margins inrolled, upper half membranaceous, fimbriate; upper lemma ca. 1.8 mm long, linear-lanceolate, fimbriate at apex, 2-toothed, 1-nerved, ending in an awn of ca. 7 mm long; upper palea hyaline, lanceolate, ciliate at apex, ca. 1 mm long.
